Martin Linked to Adscam?

Yesterday, the Conservatives tried to link Prime Minister Martin to the Sponsorship Scandal. They produced a 1994 letter which Martin had written to Claude Boulay -- president of Group Everest, the firm at the center of the adscam. The agency eventually received millions of dollars from the sponsorship program -- for seemingly no work.

The adscam almost took down the Liberal Party during this spring's election, as they went from a massive majority to a minority government. Mr. Martin has been able to distance himself from the scandal, placing the blame squarely on former PM Jean Chretien. However, should Mr. Martin be implicated the future of the party could be in danger.

How could he not be involved? He was the finance minister for crying out loud! He was responsible for the money, he had to know where it went.

Chretien ran the country like he owned it. Martin didn't have to know what was going on. Sure, he knew Boulay, what does that prove? This is just the conservaties looking for an advantage in the next election.

Have you heard of innocent until proven guilty? Boulay worked for Martin, their relationship has been known for a while. He wrote him a letter. So what? All you have is conjecture.

Go back to Alberta.

I'm sure Martin had little to nothing to do with Adscam. Chretien ran the country like a tyrant, I doubt Martin was allowed to go to the bathroom without permission.

Give the PM a chance, he's been waiting in the wings a long time and I'm sure he wants to do a good job.

Just because he wants to do well doesn't mean he will or is capable of it. I'm sure Hitler wanted to be a good leader too.

That last post was just ridiculous. To compare any politician to Hitler, or to belittle another poster in that way is perposterous.

You should really apologize, that comment was a bit too much.

Fine, I'm sorry for mentioning Hitler, poor choice of words. Still, my point stands. Just because Martin wants to be a good PM doesnt mean he will be.
